| Dr. Shawl has played an active role
in Interventional Cardiology ever since he performed
the first Angioplasty at Walter Reed Army Medical Center
in 1981. He is considered to have performed every known
interventional technique and in fact has pioneered several
techniques. Having performed over 16,000 interventional
procedures, he is considered to have performed more procedures
as a single operator than any other interventionalist in
the world. Dr Shawl has authored over 150 leading articles,
abstracts and book chapters. He has also published a book
entitled "Supported Complex and High Risk Coronary
Angioplasty". |

He has done his M.B. Ch. B., from the
college of medicine – Al Mustansiriya University
and CABM from Arab Board of Internal Medicine. He later
went on to do his specialization in Interventional Cardiology
in ICHD Medical city complex Baghdad.
He was actively involved with Iraqi Centre for Heart Diseases (ICHD) as
Director of Cath Lab and Medical Department. During his 6 years tenure
at ICHD he is credited with performing more than 3000 Interventional Coronary
procedures and various Publications in International Journals. In June
2006, he was awarded the fellowship for European society of Cardiology.
His specialization lies in the areas of Interventional cardiology and peripheral
Interventions. |
