He completed his MBBS in 1991 and MS in General Surgery in 1996 from Government Medical College, Kottayam, followed by an MCh in Urology in 1999 from Government Medical College, Trivandrum. He was awarded the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Urology in 2001 and later earned his FRCS in Urology from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh (UK) in 2016. He has also completed several advanced training programs, including Rezum therapy and HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate) among others.
Dr. Pushpangathan is a highly qualified Urologist and Uro-Surgeon with over 29 years of experience in diagnosing and treating disorders of the urinary tract and male reproductive system. He has worked with leading hospitals across India, Dubai, and the United Kingdom, and has successfully performed more than 8,000 endoscopic procedures.
His previous appointments include Lisie Hospital, Cochin, PVS Hospital, Calicut and Lourdes Hospital, Kochi in India, followed by Zulekha Hospital LLC, Dubai, where he served until 2020. From 2020 to 2026, he worked with NHS England at Musgrove Park Hospital and Somerset Foundation Trust (SFT).

He holds advanced skills in endourological procedures for kidney stones, bladder conditions, and prostate disorders. His surgical experience also includes reconstructive urinary tract procedures such as pyeloplasty, ureteric reimplantation, ureteric and bladder injury repair, urethroplasty, meatoplasty, and orchidopexy. Additionally, he has expertise in the latest minimally invasive prostate treatment, Rezum (steam injection therapy), which offers effective results with minimal sexual side effects. He also provides bladder instillation therapies for bladder cancer and chronic bladder conditions.
