Work Experience

Dr. Amitabha Das brings more than 16 years of experience and a surgical practice spanning over 5,000 procedures to the treatment of brain, spine and peripheral nerve disorders. His principal areas of expertise are brain and spine tumour surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery and complex spinal instrumentation, combining extensive operative experience with careful clinical judgement.

He treats brain tumours, spinal tumours, slipped discs, spinal canal narrowing, nerve compression and spinal instability, including conditions that cause persistent pain, weakness and difficulty walking. His broader practice encompasses hydrocephalus, skull base disorders, paediatric neurosurgical conditions, brain and spine injuries, and peripheral nerve compression. Treatment is planned around each patient’s symptoms, neurological function and everyday needs. 

Dr. Das integrates robotics, neuronavigation and intraoperative neuromonitoring into selected procedures to support surgical precision and the preservation of neurological function. His approach emphasises favourable clinical outcomes, early mobilisation and timely recovery, using minimally invasive techniques whenever appropriate. He places equal importance on clear communication, attentive follow-up and patient satisfaction throughout treatment and rehabilitation. 

He completed his MBBS and MS in General Surgery at Medical College Kolkata, receiving the Gold Medal in Surgery, followed by his MCh in Neurosurgery at AIIMS, New Delhi. Alongside his clinical practice, he has maintained a strong commitment to research, publications and postgraduate teaching, mentoring neurosurgical residents and younger surgeons and serving as faculty at national neurosurgical, spine and trauma meetings. He is a member of national and international professional societies, including NSI, NSSA, EANS and AO Spine.
